I have been very busy with my house lately. Fortunately I have a very supportive and flexible family that allows me to create and leave various work "staging areas" full of tools, boards, supplies and whatnot. Also, my son is quite keen to help on occassion, which can slow my down, but it is nice as it breaks up my routine a bit. Over time we have come up with various smallscale projects/activities which he can handle and give him a sense of accomplishment whilst at the same time developing a few skills he may find not only useful in the future, but enjoyable as well.
Some of the projects completed thus far:
* Airplanes and rockets from scrap lumber
* Wooden golfclubs
* Wooden swords
* Weinie/marshmallow sticks
* Squirrel house (non-functional as it has no entry)
Some of the activities have been:
* Drywall karate chop competition (breaking long thin pieces with a good chop)
* Screwdriving challenge (screwing screws into styrofoam)
* Various art masterpieces (created by pencil on underfloors before I put the floors down)
Over time I hope to share some more of these ideas for you parents/grandparents that have a tag along helper with you and I sincerely hope some of you may have some ideas/suggestions to add.
